This is Part Three of: An Urgent Call To Christian News Publishers
Another “Christian news” publisher using ad networks that dishonor the name of Christ is Charisma Media. If you are not familiar with this organization they publish websites like CharismaNews.com, CharismaMag.com, and MinistryTodayMag.com. Here is a description from their corporate website:
“Charisma Media is a leading creator of diversified Christian resources that empowers believers for God’s purpose. Our vision is to inspire people to radically change their world.”
Let me again state my motive for writing this series of articles. I believe it is an act of obedience to the LORD and an act of love to my brothers and sisters in Christ (you know who you are). Do not conform yourself to, or be yoked to any unclean thing. If you are an editor, columnist, or support staff, make a stand. Whatever does not proceed from faith is sin. God is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
This is a plea to “Christian news” publishers to examine and re-think their strategies to monetize content. Christian news publishers have a voice and an opportunity to share the gospel and to be a path, not a stumbling block, to Jesus Christ. Call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.
Below are recent screenshots taken this month (November, 2017).
1. In addition to running Revcontent ads to generate income, CharismaNews.com and CharismaMag.com (not MinistryTodayMag.com) also use Taboola Sponsored Links in the Disqus Comments App. In short, when you click on the blue button, “View/Add Comments,” a list of provocative, sensual, critical, and sensational text ads are presented at the bottom of the comments section.
Here is a screen shot from the “Statement of Faith” page for Charisma Magazine:

Ironically, Charisma Media has a Comments Guidelines policy that opposes much of the ad content they choose to present to readers in order to make more money:

This is an urgent call to repentance. Change your mind about publishing any content that does not honor God, and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
John 3:36 “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”
Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’”
Revelation 22:14-15 “Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. 15 Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.”
Jeremiah 6:10-16: “To whom shall I speak and give warning, that they may hear? Behold, their ears are uncircumcised, they cannot listen; behold, the word of the Lord is to them an object of scorn; they take no pleasure in it. 11 Therefore I am full of the wrath of the Lord; I am weary of holding it in. ‘Pour it out upon the children in the street, and upon the gatherings of young men, also; both husband and wife shall be taken, the elderly and the very aged. 12 Their houses shall be turned over to others, their fields and wives together, for I will stretch out my hand against the inhabitants of the land,’ declares the Lord. 13 ‘For from the least to the greatest of them, everyone is greedy for unjust gain; and from prophet to priest, everyone deals falsely. 14 They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace. 15 Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed; they did not know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time that I punish them, they shall be overthrown,’ says the Lord. 16 Thus says the Lord: ‘Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls.'”
Isaiah 26:9-11 “For when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. 10 If favor is shown to the wicked, he does not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness he deals corruptly and does not see the majesty of the Lord. 11 O Lord, your hand is lifted up, but they do not see it. Let them see your zeal for your people, and be ashamed. Let the fire for your adversaries consume them.”
Psalm 2:1-5 “My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, 2 making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; 3 yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, 4 if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, 5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”
Job 28:28 “And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding.'”
Revelation 3:15-22 “‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! 16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. 17 For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. 19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. 21 The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”
