We Are Overcomers In Christ Jesus

“He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.”

Overcoming the giants (shame, fear, lust, greed, pride) of this world is freedom over the lies, false beliefs, selfish desires, and demonic bondage binding every soul who does not know God.

Who is an overcomer?  Christ Jesus!  And all who believe in Him…  all who believe in Him obey Him; all who obey Him surrender to His will; all who surrender to His will and submit to His lordship overcome the world, the flesh, and Satan.

  • The World represents our circumstances and the actions of others (John 16:33; 1 John 5:4; Ephesians 2:2).  Is His grace sufficient for your circumstances?  Is His provision sufficient for your needs?  Is His righteousness sufficient to express the love of Christ to others or are you practicing sinful responses to those who offend you or tempt you?  We are not of the world, but we are in the world, baptized by the Holy Spirit and fire–how are you responding to the heat?  Do you fear man more than God?  The fear of man is a snare but the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom–hallelujah!  We cry out to you LORD with vehement cries to strike our hearts with the fear of the LORD.

  • The Flesh represents our thoughts, emotions and will (Galatians 5:16-26; Romans 7:15; 8:4-8, 13).  The heart is the most deceitful of all things and desperately wicked.  The wisdom of man is earthly, sensual, and demonic, filled with bitter jealousy and selfish ambition, leading to disorder and every vile practice.  What are you consuming today?  What are you listening to?  What are you watching?  Are your conversations godly, encouraging, and edifying?  Do you put yourself in situations to be tempted by sexual desires?  Do you spend time with those who gossip, relentlessly judging others to exalt themselves? For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.  We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,  being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.

  • Satan and the authorities, rulers, and powers of this world seek to steal, kill, and destroy (1 Peter 5:8-9; Ephesians 6:12; John 16:11; Colossians 2:15).  They desire to oppress us in strongholds, sifting us like wheat into flour, creating division and destruction, separating us from God and others.  How do we overcome the temptations and accusations of the enemy?Brothers and sisters, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

When Jesus saw us He had compassion for us because we were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.  Cry out to Him.  Hold thoughts captive, submit to His lordship, use your powers of discernment to distinguish good from evil, stand on your faith and trust the LORD completely, loving Him with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul, and all your strength.  And love your neighbor like yourself.

“For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

1 John 5:1-5 “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him.  By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments.  For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.  For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.  Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”

Revelation 3:21 “He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.”

Revelation 17:14 “These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him called and chosen and faithful.”

1 John 4:1-6 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.  By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,  and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.  Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.  They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them.  We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.”
